This tour of Assisi allows you to get to know the city and its most famous sites. It incorporates the caves where St. Francis made his retreat. From there you will also enjoy one of the most evocative views of the Umbrian Valley below.
After the hermitage visit the Sanctuary of San Damiano which is the place of the vocation of San Francesco. There the vision of the crucifix took place which advised Francis to repair his church. It was the starting point of Francis’ new experience as a friar in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
Lastly, visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels which protects the tiny Porziuncola under its gigantic dome. This is the tiny chapel where Francis and his first companions founded the Franciscan community and also the place where Saint Francis died.
